La Terreirada2025, Posters And Communication
La Terreirada is a Paris-based organization dedicated to promoting Brazil's diverse cultures in France. I worked there as a volunteer graphic designer from April to November 2025.
As part of its monthly themed exhibitions, I designed several posters and social media graphics. I also contributed to the organization’s communication strategy for the 2025 Avignon Off Festival.
Cultural Exhibitions
The Terreirada cultural exhibitions are monthly events that feature a variety of activities centered on Brazilian culture. They include a film club, an introduction to forró dancing, concerts, and an introduction to Brazilian cuisine.
April Exhibition
The poster for April’s cultural exhibition features the three forró musicians invited to perform. I used an illustration available for free online and redrew certain details—particularly the two women’s hair—to better represent the Afro-Culture that the association seeks to promote.
Visually, I drew inspiration from the art of “xilogravuras” (woodcut prints), which is very common in certain regions of Brazil. As a result, the illustration features solid blocks of green against an off-white background, faithful to the style of a woodcut print.
May Exhibition
The poster for the May cultural exhibition features various instruments used in forró music. I created all of the illustrations using Adobe Illustrator and the Pen tool.
I created a dynamic collage to capture the lively, festive atmosphere of the forró dances organized by the association. The color scheme was inspired by the film club’s theme: the films screened that day were all from the Paraíba region of Brazil. In fact, the region’s flag consists mainly of black and red.
June Exhibition
June is traditionally the season of the “arraial,” Brazil's popular festivals. The event poster captures these festivities with some of their characteristic elements: garlands, dancing couples, and bright colors. I wanted to emphasize movement by depicting these dancers from an extreme perspective.
The second poster complements the first. Drawing on some of the elements from the first poster, I adapted it for the screening of the short films taking place today.
September Exhibition
September, known as “Yellow September,” is dedicated to suicide prevention and mental health issues. That is why the association has chosen to focus its monthly exhibition on this cause.
This choice is visually reflected in a palette of yellows and a striking symbol: a heart-shaped sun. This motif proved particularly fitting for the organization, which was in the midst of revamping its visual identity and was considering adopting this symbol as its logo. Thus, the heart radiates love across the poster with its rays, perfectly embodying the campaign’s message.
Avignon OFF Festival 2025
In 2025, the year marking the 200th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Brazil and France, the association was invited to participate in the Festival Off d'Avignon to present a cultural exhibition. As part of this, I designed a flyer summarizing all the activities offered during the event.
The front of this piece features an illustration inspired by an iconic puppet from the Pernambuco Theater. I created it entirely using Adobe Illustrator.
